Brain Bustin’ Journal Response!

Good morning, third grade!

We are going to discuss our literature circles online this morning. Check out the question below…

Do the characters in your Beverly Cleary book seem realistic? Could you meet them in real life? Why or why not?

Give examples of these character traits. Your response must be at least five sentences!

Brain Bustin’ Journal Response!

Good morning, third graders!

We recently started literature circles in our Language Arts class. Literature circles help us to practice our reading strategies in class while reading the story at home. There are three different books being read in class, but they are all by Beverly Cleary!

The books being read are “Ralph S. Mouse” by Beverly Cleary, “Socks” by Beverly Cleary, and “Ramona” by Beverly Cleary. In addition, we are reading “Beezus and Ramona” by Beverly Cleary as a whole class. By reading different novels all written by the same author, we are able to compare and contrast the characteristics of the author. In addition, we will be doing a film and book comparison for “Ramona and Beezus” next Friday!

Please reflect upon the chapters you have read so far and answer the following question.

What is the setting of the story? Create a new setting for the story and describe how it would impact the plot!

Human Mattress Dominos Topple World Record

Good morning, bloggers!

I found an interesting article on the kid’s news this morning. Dogonews reported on a group of 850 people that broke a world record for human mattress dominos! Dogonews stated, “850 people came together in New Orleans last week and arranged themselves behind each other, holding mattresses. They then waited patiently as the human dominos came toppling backwards one after another until the final, 850th domino fell on to the ground, easily surpassing the 2011 record set in Belgium, by 550 people.”

The people involved in the event were quite generous, too! All of the mattresses used in the world record were donated to New Orlean’s city shelters.

How would it feel to participate in breaking a Guinness World Record?

What types of challenges do you think the record breakers faced?
