2019-20 Superintendent Welcome

The 2019-20 school year promises to be incredible! Please be sure to review the District 30 ePacket (https://sites.google.com/district30.org/epackets1920/home) that contains valuable information for the upcoming school year. For students with registration submitted, classroom teacher assignments (Wescott & Willowbrook Schools) and advisory/locker assignments (Maple School) will be available via the Parent Portal at noon on Friday, August 23. Elementary class lists will be available at school supply drop off on Thursday, August 29.

On behalf of the District 30 Board of Education and staff, I extend a warm welcome to all within our District 30 Family. District 30 exists to create a community that craves learning, fosters resiliency, and cares deeply for every child. We benefit from an invested Board of Education, talented administrators and staff, and outstanding students!

Our new innovative, flexible, state of the art Maple School and its redesigned campus remains on schedule and within budget. We are thrilled for our students and staff to leverage this innovative, flexible, state of the art school that will serve our community for decades to come! Considering all the individuals who provided input into this facility and supported our construction, the new Maple School is genuinely a community accomplishment. Parents, please make sure you review and follow the two new dropoff lanes off of Sherman and Shermer Drive at Maple School

Our teachers have continued to be busy throughout the summer preparing for the new school year. Our efforts have increased opportunities for our Professional Learning Teams to meet this year to support our continuous improvement efforts. Over 50 staff members participated in summer curriculum work. Content areas included but were not limited to, Science 6-8, Social Emotional Learning, Mathematics K-5, and World Languages. Also, new flexible furniture across grades 3-8 supports our student-centered learning.

Our students will continue to enjoy outstanding teaching and learning experiences, and we are committed to providing the best possible educational experience for all students attending Maple, Wescott, and Willowbrook Schools. I invite each of you to stay connected and involved in your child’s education. Together we can look forward to seeing our children achieve, succeed, and grow!

Sincerely,

Dr. Brian K. Wegley
Superintendent of Schools
