Fractions, Fractions, Fractions…

Hello all of you math wizards,

We are at the end of our math unit on fractions. We can now read fractions, compare them and find equivalent fractions. We know that the denominator is the number of equal parts in a whole. The numerator is the number of parts we are talking about.

I find myself looking for fractions all around me. There are 5 people who live in my house. I make up one-fifth of the people in my house. I cracked 2 eggs and made an omelette yesterday. I used two-twelfths of the carton. I could also say I used one-sixth of the carton.

What fractions do you notice in the world around you? Let’s share!
