Hello all of you math wizards,

We are at the end of our math unit on fractions. We can now read fractions, compare them and find equivalent fractions. We know that the denominator is the number of equal parts in a whole. The numerator is the number of parts we are talking about.

I find myself looking for fractions all around me. There are 5 people who live in my house. I make up one-fifth of the people in my house. I cracked 2 eggs and made an omelette yesterday. I used two-twelfths of the carton. I could also say I used one-sixth of the carton.

What fractions do you notice in the world around you? Let’s share!

Maybe some day in the future, I might ask Ty if I can have one fifth of a Twix bar and I’m 100% sure he’d give me nothing. Zero. 🙁

I have a little brother named, Declan I think he is so much like Ty, he even plays with him!

I know; Ty told me. 🙂

That’s funny. I just shared it with your brother 🙂

Today I shared crackers with my brother. We both had one half.My brothers name is Ryan and he shared the crackers with me. 🙂

On Monday I shared a cookie with my brother. We each one forth. We both had one forth because we wanted one the next day! 🙂

I know how you feel Madison I’m sure if I asked my brother for a peace of candy he would give me nothing.

Well, that’s the way little brothers are. Besides, I almost always share with MY brother:(

Me and my brother wanted to have a cookie and there was only one left and so we split one in half.

I had 1 and a half cups of coffee this morning and 2 and 3/4 cups of water and 2 halves of a bagel-I tried to eat just half but ate both sides so I guess I ate the whole thing!. I also notice that now that I got my dog, who is a boy, only one fifth of the creatures that live in my house are girls, and that is only me!
