“10 MORE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS!”
I love 1st grade, don’t you?
This past Friday, we tasted STARFRUIT! Here are some of our reactions…
“It tasted kind of sour.”
“It tastes like a sour plum.”
“I don’t like it.”
“When you bite it, it’s kind of crunchy like an apple.”
“It was good!”
Would you like to try starfruit too?
On Friday we tasted JICAMA! Here are some of our reactions:
Ava: “It was really good. I’ve tried it a couple of times.”
Mia: “I would rather eat it with some kind of sauce.”
Jaymin: “It was delicious!”
Ike: “It tasted like apple juice.”
Andrew: “It tasted really good and it was a little dry.”
Jacob: “I tried it a couple of times and it tasted really good, like grapes and apples mixed together- like a grapple.”
We’re pretty sure you would like jicama too! Would you like to try jicama?
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a brave peaceful man who wanted to have rights to do stuff not by the color of some part of their body, but by friends and love. He believed that black people and white people, if they could get along better, there would be freedom and everything. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. fought not with war, but with his voice. When people said, “Hate”, he said, “Love”. When people said, “War”, he said, “Peace”. Black people did not have the same rights they have today. But remember he was a great man. by Emily
In December, we enjoyed participating in volunteer projects through an organization called, The Kindness Connection. The vision of The Kindness Connection is to “create lifelong volunteers who are compassionate, proactive, philanthropic, and engaged members of our community.” We think they’re doing a pretty good job! 😉

Hello 1st Graders! I had so much fun meeting all of you and being your “Mystery Reader” today! I can’t wait to see you again next Monday! I hope you enjoyed the story as much as I did. I especially enjoyed all of the fun facts. I can’t believe that wild turkeys can glide for up to a mile without flapping their wings! What fun facts do you remember? (Please share your ideas as comments!)
See you next Monday! HAPPY THANKSGVIVING!
We just learned about solid shapes! They are cylinder, cone, pyramid, rectangular prism, sphere and cube.
Look at the models we made with the solid shapes…
We just learned about plane shapes! They are flat shapes, such as triangles, squares, circles and rectangles.
