Banned Books Week 2019

Have you ever read Harry PotterCaptain UnderpantsBecause of Winn DixieCharlotte’s WebJune B. JonesHop on Pop? How about Harry Potter (which was just banned at a school in TN for depicting “actual curses and spells.”) Then guess what – you have read a book that has been banned or challenged because of its content!

In recognition of Banned Books Week next week, 5th-grade students will discuss what it means to have the Freedom to Read. Students will take “shelfies” with a favorite book to show their gratitude for their freedom to read and for the wonderful library we have at Wescott.
