Halloween Hideout

thHalloween is approaching fast, my goblins and ghosts!  We need to be prepared with our creative descriptive stories so we can share them on this gloriously spooky day!  Your assignment for this week ( October 24th – October 30th) is to create a short “small moments story” to share with the class.  This is what is required:

1) A description of a spooky setting and characters for the first paragraph.

2) A problem one or more of the characters must solve.

3) Dialogue, actions, and feelings.

4) An ending , describing how the problem is solved. Your story can be funny and silly, but no really violent details please!

Your story should be at least 4 paragraphs.

You will be provided with spooky and descriptive words for this assignment.

Here is an example story:

It was a stormy and bone chilling Halloween night. Joey Martin, a shy 16-year-old boy, who did not get the night off, worked as a pizza delivery boy for Zappies Pizzeria. A call came from a customer with a low gurgling voice that said, “ I would like a large pizza with boiled onions and extra blood-red sauce on it. You must deliver it to my house on 666 Haunted Lane.” All of the other delivery boys refused to deliver the pizza because the house had a reputation of having strange people living in it. Joey thought the rumors about the house were fake, so he chirped, “No problem, I’ll deliver it!”

Twenty minutes later, Joey arrived at the house and stared at the closed iron-gate. He stepped out of the car and looked around to see what to do next. To his right, he saw a tall and eerie tree with splintered branches and no leaves. A ripped up shirt hanging from one of the limbs, was blowing in the breeze. On his left, hung a wooden sign warning visitors “No Trespassing” carved and painted in crimson red. Joey felt a sharp chill as he walked cautiously towards the gate.

As he approached, Joey realized the rusty gate had a lock that held it closed. He began to search for a way to get to the house. Lying on the ground was a metal key made in a skull shape. He grabbed it and realized it would turn the lock. It made a spine tingling sound as it opened. “CREEEEK!”

Putting his fear aside, he grabbed the pizza and hurried through the gate. Before him, stood a giant house on a hill that looked frightening against the full moon in the cloudy sky. A wolf howled in the distance as the thunder and lightning started. He wanted to turn and leave, but knew he couldn’t. Joey thought, “I have to do this even though I feel like I’m going to get sick.” So, Joey stumbled forward as a swarm of bats circled around his head. On his path he encountered an owl that looked at him and winked. He soon found himself approaching the wooden porch. The rocking chair began to sway with the breeze.

Joey used the witch shaped knocker on the enormous wooden door to knock. A loud screech came from inside. Thinking they didn’t hear him, he knocked again. The door began to open bit by bit, and a large shadow filled the walls behind the door. It appeared to be a giant hairy monster that was making its way to the porch. The footsteps became louder. Joey began shaking uncontrollably. As the monster approached slowly, he dropped the pizza to the ground, SPLATT! Joey ran for his life.

A few moments later, the door opened and a small child-sized monster came out onto the porch and grabbed the pizza. “Another free pizza, Mom” shouted Kevin, after taking off his monster mask.
