Houghton-Mifflin Sight Words

Every three weeks,  the children will receive a mini book of sight words that will show up in our reading textbook, workbook pages, and activities throughout the week. The children are expected to be able to read these words as fast as they can read their name by Friday. Sight words are meant to be memorized. Please have your children read the sentences on the reverse side.  This will help the child read the word in context as well as review previous sight words  used in the sentences. Your child should not have to sound them out.  Keep all the word cards in a baggie throughout the year and review old words periodically. At home practice is necessary for your child’s success. Thanks for your help!

I am also attaching a general list of 600 sight words that you can download and practice with your child. The goal is to master these by the end of first grade.
